The Vaso Kelavni Mandal has always accepted the need of Physical Education with the Academic Education. Tilak Vyayam Mandir has been running here since 1923 in the holy memory of Late Shree Balgangadhar Tilak, a great patriot who gave theidea of “Swarajya”.

Establishment of Tilak Vyayam Mandir

There were subjects like Drawing, Agriculture, Gardening, Carpentry and Physical Education in the school of Vaso Kelavni Mandal. Tilak Vyayam mandir was founded in 1923 A.D. as people took much interest in Physical Education.

Inspired by the enthusiastic experience of Petlad, Honourable Shree Motibhai Saheb implemented everywhere the slogan “Where there is a school, there must be a hostel.” Accordingly here in vaso also as soon as the English Standard 6th started in 1915, a Vidhyarthi Ashram (student hostel) was established. At that time there were a few high schools. So, many students from neighbouring villages came to study and stayed in the hostel.

It was believed that a hostel was an inevitable part of education and as such Sayaji Boarding House was an ideal hostel of Gujarat.

Simplicity, Self-reliance and Labour were given importance in hostel-life and the poor students stayed in the hostel and received Secondary Education at a very low expense. As it had always happened, with the every institution of Vaso Kelavni Mandal, in times of need donations were got from unexpected places. In the beginning the Ashram was in rented house without any facility. But the Vaso Kelavni Mandal received Rs. 10,000/- from Late Shree Desaibhai Zaverbhai Patel (South Africa) as per his will and in 1936 a big building of the Ashram was built in this very Compound.

Thus, Desaibhai Zaverbhai Vidhyarthi Ashram (student hostel) became the Boarding House and the Study Hall for neighbouring students. But then after the number of High Schools were increased in surrounding villages and as such the number of Boarders were affected, Even though the parents who wished to prevent their children from atmosphere of cities and wanted to develop self-reliance and simplicity in their children used to send their children in this Ashram in spite of the schools in their villages.

This building as well as the Kitchen behind was in deep. In order to fill earth in the deep, ‘Shree Motibhai Saheb and the teachers and students of the day did “Shramyajna” and filled the deep.

Even today people remember the “Shramyajna” of 1935 and the picture of Shree Motibhai Saheb with a basket full of earth comes before their sight.

When the establisher of vaso kelavani mandal Shri Motibhai Amin went to Ahmedabad he saw there the sisters of ahmedabad were going to college without any shame, any hesitation ,he thought what a beautiful scene it is !and if it would be seen in my vaso.

It was an impossible imagination at that time. But every time, hopeful Shri Motibhai Sir continued his best trials for the education of women. He understood his friends and relatives daughters. And slowly the numbers of daughters admission increasing in the secondary school.
He faced the problems in giving education of home life useful things for the girls. It was difficult to give education to boys and girls in the method of Co-curricular activities. So the necessity of the establishment of the separate Secondary School was created.

For the purpose of the Girl’s education, and for the establishment of separate School for the Girl’s . vaso kelavani mandal started the secondary school name “JIBABA KANYA VIDYALAY” at 20-06-1970. So the parents of the girls were sending their daughters in the school without any hesitation.

The Navchetan primary school was started with the noble objective of form good moral and benevolent qualities in children in their childhood so that these precious qualities may last for ever in their lives.

The first standard of the Navchetan primary school was inaugurated by the auspicious hands of a reputed teacher Shree Mlujibhai Manibhai Sutariya (Shree Sutariya Saheb). The school started with strength of 26 students in standard 1st, on 22nd June 1989.

In the beginning the school was running under the precious guidance of Smt Vandanaben – the wife of Shree Dineshbhai Fulabhai Amin – the president of Vaso Kelavni Mandal. The syllabus, question papers, extra co-curricular activities and everything was planned in accordance with Mrs Vandanaben’s school at Ahmedabad. Everything was made to make the school an ideal one.

In the beginning the school worked under two shifts – the 1st morning shift 07:30 AM to 11:00 AM and the 2nd noon shift 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM. The academic syllabus was in the morning shift and extra co-curricular activities were done in the afternoon session.

The school was nominated as Navchetan Primary School up to 1993 but then after in keeping view the selfless and dedicated services rendered to Kelavni Mandal by the Honorary Secretary Shree Naranbhai Chhotabhai Amin on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee in 1994 his name was joined with the school as Shree Naranbhai Chhotabhai Amin Navchetan Primary School, Vaso.

With a view to giving the students a sound and concrete education right from 1989 different activities like Guardian Contact, Homework, different kinds of Educational Experiments are done. The students from Vaso as well as surrounding villages come to this school to import this kind of noble education school’s donor Shree Naranbhai C. Amin’s family occasionally donates good sums for maintenance of the school.

The Vaso Kelavni Mandal celebrated its ‘Amrut Mahotsav’ on 24–06–1993 – 75 years after establishment. On that day Smt. S. B. Patel and Shri R.N. Amin Commerce College was established. The present phase of development in our college started in 1993. Ours is a Co – Education College with two main faculties of Arts and Commerce.

About half of the students commute from surrounding villages. At home they are bound to be involved in domestic chores also. They can, therefore hardly spare any time apart from class room lessons. These handicaps, however, have not prevented them from achieving good results. What sustains and spurs our hope and enthusiasm is the performance of our students which has been, year after year, better than the average results of the university or other surrounding arts and commerce colleges.

Smt. Kamlaben Purushottamdas Amin is a wife of Shri Purushottamdas Amin. Purushottamdas Amin some year ago had a general store opposite to parbar tower and was known as Purushottam Gheewala.

He stayed long time in Africa and then he came to Canada. He saved money from his income and asked others who were staying their to save some money for the uplift men of the small childrens. In 1981 in the month of June Vaso Kenavani mandal divided to open a new English medium children classes and then wanted to open all classes step by step. At this time Vaso Kenavani mandal got a closed cover from their dear one. That dear one was happy to hear the news of opening of English medium school and showed his eagerness to donate Rs.1,00,000 /- for this school.

That person decided that the school should be opened by his wife’s name and the school was started by his wife’s name. In 1994 this K.P.Amin school was closed due to some reasons. And once again in the year 2005 with the same donation the K.P.Amin English medium K.G.class was started 13th June 2005.
